Auditel National Conference & Supplier Exhibition 2024 a resounding success

Highlights include a record annual 25% increase in franchisee network revenue!

Auditel’s Annual Conference event was held this June at the beautiful venue of Coombe Abbey, near Coventry.  The historic venue played host to Auditel’s flagship national event for a second consecutive year following a successful event in 2023.

Supplier Exhibition

The weather was once again splendid as the vast majority of Auditel’s franchisee network, their employees and the head office team gathered on Thursday 5th June for the ‘Supplier Exhibition’ where they networked with around 60 suppliers of services related to cost management, procurement and carbon solutions.

As well as on-stand discussion, there were demonstrations, workshops and seminars as the Auditel network sought to extend their depth of knowledge of services and key providers across all aspects of the Auditel service offering.

Auditel MD Chris Aston spoke of the day: “I’m incredibly proud of the Auditel Business Community we have nurtured to what it is today. Relationships between the network, and with good suppliers, are fundamental to helping our clients achieve better value through procurement whilst exploring decarbonisation within their supply chain.  The learnings gathered through the networking today will broaden awareness and understanding throughout the Auditel community.  This will help them expand their client base and range of solutions helping their clients and ultimately their own successful, profitable businesses.”

Gala Dinner & Awards

In the evening, the venue transformed for a Gala Dinner, followed by an awards ceremony.  Auditel celebrated great achievements and recognised the following franchisee Partners:

New Consultant of the Year: Nick Scull

The ‘New Consultant of the Year’ award is given to somebody who is in the early stages of the business, usually within 6-18 months of starting their Auditel venture.  This year’s winner Nick Scull has already built a healthy portfolio of clients, has contributed on projects across the business and has really developed his understanding of the Auditel services and subject matter.

On winning his award he commented “It’s fantastic to be recognised with this award.  I’ve really enjoyed my first year with Auditel, building my business and collaborating with my colleagues.  It’s been really refreshing to do something new after 30 years in senior corporate PLC roles, and I’m looking forward to continuing to grow my business and supporting my clients over the forthcoming year.”

Franchisee of the Year: Paul Foster

Paul Foster was the deserving winner of the prestigious ‘(Franchisee) Consultant of the Year’ award.  Paul has been a huge contributor across the business for many years, and in addition to his support of colleagues, he has been Chair of the London Regional Group, and a willing participant in new business developments and projects.  For new franchise Partners, Paul has offered lots of help around client acquisition, and works on lots of ‘joint venture’ projects across the Auditel network.

“Absolutely thrilled and honoured to be named Auditel’s Consultant of the Year for 2024! This award is a testament to my dedication and collaborative solutions I’ve championed. Huge thanks to Auditel, my clients, and colleagues for their trust and support!”

Consultant’s Consultant of the Year: Huw Williams

The Auditel network themselves get to nominate and then vote for the Auditel Consultant of the Year, and this year the voting was very close across half-a-dozen Auditel Partners.  Huw Williams prevailed however, with his Auditel colleagues recognising his great efforts in progressing Auditel’s Carbon services and solutions, as well as providing training and support to the network too.  Helping out with extra projects, presenting at the conference, and running workshops have all been drivers in recognising Huw’s efforts in winning this award.

Huw reflects “Winning awards is always gratifying, winning an award that is voted for by your piers is something special, overwhelmed by the fact my colleagues felt I am deserving of this very special award.”

Business Progression Award: David Wilshin

David Wilshin was awarded the ‘Business Progression’ Award, reflecting a vastly improved second year for his business after what had initially being a slow start in the early months and now having a thriving business with many clients.

He says “The past 12 months have been transformational for my business, I feel like all the hard work since joining Auditel in 2022 has paid off. I now have a great portfolio of carbon clients, several of whom have already resigned for a 2nd year, so I must be doing something right! Sincere thanks to the Auditel Head Office team for the recognition and support during my formative years.”

Additional Awards

In additional awards, Stephen Heathcock’s ‘Connect Consultancy’ Auditel franchise won the ‘Highest Performance – Practice’ award, whilst Mike Andrews, in his 20th year as an Auditel Franchise Partner, won the ‘Highest Performance – Individual’ award.

There were several ‘Special Recognition’ awards given out to a number of Auditel Partners recognising their contributions around service development, training, supplier management, network support and other notable contributions.

Evening Fun

After the completion of the awards, the celebrations continued late into the evening, with a popular bar and ‘fun’ Casino.  With all attendees being given a starting pot of 100 chips, the network showed their skills (mostly blind luck) at Blackjack, Roulette and other games, whilst enjoying each others’ company at the bar.  A good night was enjoyed by all, before retiring ahead of the next-day Conference.

National Conference

The National Conference kicked off the following morning with a packed agenda.  MD Chris Aston welcomed the well-rested and refreshed 150+ attendees. His opening address highlighted some incredible achievements, most notably that Auditel is celebrating it’s 30th Anniversary this year, an incredible feat that has seen the business move with the times and opportunities to become the flourishing network it is today, and with a great future ahead of it.  Being positioned right in the ‘sweetspot’ of the world of carbon emissions and energy management, opportunities driven by both compliance and regulation and consumer demand ensure for great potential for Auditel Partners, long into the future.

Another key highlight was the reporting that the revenue generated by the Auditel consulting network showed a 25% uplift in 2023 from 2022, an incredible feat as the impact of carbon solutions projects on top of cost management and procurement yields more income opportunities within every client.

This shows just how significant the current opportunity is for new Auditel Partners looking to join the Auditel network today, as well as proving Auditel’s robust business offering remains successful in times of broader economic challenges.

Network and Guest Speakers

The Conference agenda involved a mix or workshops and presentations, with Auditel Partners Gillian Gibbon, Huw Williams, Julie Adams and Ian Hopping presenting case studies of clients they are working with, highlighting the journey to engage the clients, and the impacts and rewards for their efforts and perseverance.

During the afternoon session there were procurement masterclass sessions from Auditel specialists John Elliott (Packaging), Paul Copsey & Stephen Heathcock (Energy), Mark Ogden (Waste) and Simon Gibson (Facilities Management & Catering), helping the watching network to identify key opportunities to identify value-improvement opportunities within their clients.

Auditel welcomed acclaimed business coach, author and speaker John Niland who presented insightful and helpful workshops around effective Client Relationship Management and Personal Mindset.

Martin Baxter, Deputy CEO of IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Accreditation) presented an informative presentation outlining the current state of government regulation and progress relative to the goals and targets set in the UK and internationally.  This highlighted the significance of the role that Auditel plays in supporting businesses on their own journey’s to Net Zero and the huge scope of opportunity that exists both now and in years to come.

First-time attendee Auditel partner Duncan commented ‘As a new Auditel Partner I’ve found it really helpful and interesting.  As well as getting to meet lots of different suppliers of services, I’ve learned lots about the industry sectors, challenges organisations face, and opportunities and solutions that I can bring to my clients in due course.

The two days was brought to a close to applause with the network gaining insights and motivation to impact positively on their businesses going forwards, and armed with new ideas, awareness and contacts to drive further business opportunity.  Most importantly, the incredible culture and camaraderie.
